I am a Clinical Psychologist with several years of experience working within the NHS. I offer psychological support for a wide range of difficulties, including:
- Low Mood and Depression
- Generalised Anxiety and Excessive Worry
- Social Anxiety
- Panic Attacks
- Specific Phobias
- Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
- Binge Eating Disorder (BED)
- Low Self-Esteem
- Bereavement and Grief
- Relationship Difficulties
- Stress and Burnout
- Difficulties Adjusting to Life Changes
I have experience in supporting individuals who may be struggling with their mental health as a result of chronic physical health conditions, including chronic pain and fatigue.
I also specialise in working with individuals living in higher-weight bodies who may be experiencing Binge Eating Disorder or difficulties with emotional or uncontrolled eating, which may be contributing to concerns about weight or health. This includes supporting people who are preparing for, or recovering from, bariatric surgery.
In my private practice, I also work with children and young people experiencing difficulties such as anxiety or low mood. This may involve one-to-one sessions with the child or young person, and/or working collaboratively with parents or caregivers to support change.
In addition, I am experienced in carrying out medicolegal assessments and writing psychological reports. These include reports for personal injury, medical negligence, and mental health matters, as well as assessments of psychological readiness or suitability for certain medical or surgical interventions.
Therapeutic Approach
I am trained in a number of evidence-based therapeutic approaches. My primary model is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which has a strong evidence base for treating a wide range of psychological difficulties. However, I recognise that each person’s situation is unique. I therefore draw flexibly on other approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), and Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), depending on what feels most appropriate for your needs.
At the heart of my work is a strong belief in collaboration. I work closely with each individual to understand their experiences, develop a shared understanding of the difficulties, and agree on a plan for moving forward. My aim is to offer a warm, supportive, and non-judgemental space where you feel safe to explore what’s going on for you, understand the roots of the challenges you’re facing, and learn helpful ways to move towards change and recovery.
